My favorite things i did for my wedding
Hi! If we haven’t met yet, my name is Leah and I was a 2022 bride, specifically married on March 13th. (Not-so-fun fact: I was supposed to get married January 16, 2022. Sound familiar? It was the peak of all covid cases due to the omicron variant and we had to move our wedding 2 weeks before it was planned to happen.)
My wedding was truly one of the happiest days of my entire life. It was worth the stress and tears and money, but I want to share the specific things that I think made the day exceptional!
Thoughtful gifts + cards
I am a huge words person. So, I knew that I wanted to give my family and bridal party thoughtful gifts - but especially thoughtful cards that expressed my love and appreciation. I wrote multiple drafts of each card before inking them onto the cards themselves! Proud to say I made pretty much everyone cry when they read the cards I wrote!
Personal vows
Stephen (my husband) and I wrote our own vows and I’m so glad we did. I know some people can find personal vows cringy, but we got so many compliments after the ceremony. Due to a large portion of our relationship being during the pandemic, a lot of our friends and family had not witness our relationship or even met one of us! We wanted our vows to showcase the life we had built together so everyone could feel invested in the wedding.
A first look
I left this choice up to Stephen! I knew he was a bit nervous as someone who is pretty introverted and I asked him what he preferred. He really wanted a first look to calm his nerves and so we got more time together on our big day! I’m so glad we did it. It also allowed for us to be together before the ceremony started with just our parents and MOH / Best Man and those few moments were really special.
An intimate ceremony officiated by my uncle
We were fortunate enough to have our ceremony officiated by my uncle, who we both adore and respect. He absolutely killed it! People were asking if he would officiate other ceremonies! It made for an extremely personalized and emotional ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We also kept the guest list relatively small. We had 95 guests (over forty of which were family) and I loved knowing every single person who was witness.
A sweetheart table
This is one of my favorite candids from the day. It was so nice to have time to celebrate just the two of us and also allowed us both to eat!
Best of all - marrying the love of my life
The undeniably best part was marrying this man. I’m grateful every single day.
